Matthew Kim is a freelance cartoonist, designer and illustrator from Chicago. He currently lives in Brooklyn, New York, and graduated from Pratt Institute with a BFA in Communications Design.

His work focuses mainly on comedic storytelling and expressive forms of character design. Ever since being introduced to cartoons such as Tom and Jerry and FairlyOddParents at a young age, Matthew has been honing his craft in becoming a professional character designer and cartoonist for the past several years. The ability to convey entire stories with simple facial expressions and quick-witted dialogue is something from which Matthew took great inspiration. He’s adapted these aspects to his original style of overly exaggerated characteristics and cartoon-like gestures in his characters. Matthew is known for creating comedic cartoon characters with a strong attention to detail and utilizing every inch of space to tell a complete story.

Matthew continues to sharpen his sword as a character designer and cartoonist and aspires to work in the entertainment industry, and eventually help influence other young artists to pursue their passions like he has himself.
